渡辺鉄太（わたなべてつた）

子どもの本作家、翻訳家、著述業、講演、紙芝居ワークショップなど

東京郊外の多摩で、川原や里山を探検したり、空き地に基地を作ったりして子ども時代を過ごした。中学時代から自転車旅行にのめりこみ、現在も日本各地を自転車で旅して周っている。これまで絵本にした物語は、そんな子ども時代、旅、そして拠点としているオーストラリア、メルボルンの自然からインスピレーションを得たものばかり。一男一女の父親、子どもの本作家だった渡辺茂男の長男。妻で美術家の加藤チャコと絵本の共著を行っている。

​​Tetsuta Watanae: Children's book writer, translator, lecturer​

Tetsuta spent his childhood in Tama, a suburb of Tokyo, exploring riverbeds and woodlands, and building cubby houses in vacant lots. Tetsuta has discovered passion in bicycle trip since high school, and still travels around Japan by bicycle. The stories he has written in picture books have been inspired by his childhood, travels, and the nature of Melbourne, Australia, where he has been based since the late 90s. Tetsuta is the eldest son of Shigeo Watanabe, a children’s book author. Tetsuta is has a daughter and a son. He often creates picture books with his wife and artist, Chaco Kato.

Actively engaged in various activities in Japan and Australia, including giving lectures, book reading, Kamishibai (Japanese picture theatre storytelling) performances, and book-making workshops. Please feel free to contact us using the form below.

加藤チャコ（かとうちゃこ）、美術家、絵本画家​

幼い時から不器用でありながら、絵を描くこと、何かつくったり、絵日記や創作劇、壁新聞をかくことなどが大好きでした。その「なにかを作りたい熱」を追い続け、今も「日々是創作」という生活を送っています。日々の生活、仕事、家族、街や森の自然が循環するありかたを模索しながら、自然豊かなメルボルン郊外を拠点にして夫とともに絵本作家として、そして現代美術、パブリックアートの作家として国際的に活動しています。www.chacokato.com​​​​　また美術、絵本創作関連のトーク、学校などでのワークショップなども多々行なっています。​

Chaco Kato: Artist, book illustrator

Chaco always loved drawing, creating things from junk, writing journals with pictures, crafting plays for the young, and making wall newspapers for the school classroom. Driven by this "passion for creating something," I continue to live a life of "daily creation" even now. Based in Melbourne, I work as an artist and picture book author alongside my husband, exploring ways to live harmoniously with the cycles of work and daily life like cooking, gardening, cleaning, maintaining family, urban life, and natural life.
